About The Position

Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgeon to join our multidisciplinary team. This position will join the current two fellowship trained H&N oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgeons, Dr. Alice Lin and Dr. Andrew Larson in a complex head and neck oncology and free flap program that has been well-established for over a decade. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in the management of complex head and neck cancers, advanced surgical oncology with or without transoral robotic surgery and microvascular reconstructive procedures. This position also offers the opportunity to work with residents and medical students through the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J Tyson School of Medicine and rotating head and neck surgery residents.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery.
  • Fellowship training in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery required.
  • Valid California medical license (or eligibility to obtain one prior to hire).
  • Demonstrated excellence in microvascular free flap reconstruction and complex head and neck cancer management.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in academic teaching and research is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck, including the oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, salivary glands, thyroid, parathyroid, and related structures.
  • Perform complex ablative oncologic surgeries, including minimally invasive and open surgical approaches.
  • Lead microvascular free tissue transfer procedures for reconstruction following head and neck cancer resections.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and collaborate with medical and radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, speech therapists, physical medicine, nutrition and other specialists.
  • Provide comprehensive perioperative care, including preoperative evaluation, operative planning, and postoperative management.
  • Engage in patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and recovery expectations.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical research as appropriate.
  • Supervise and mentor residents, fellows, and medical students as part of academic and clinical activities.
