Under the supervision of the Support Services Supervisor, the Scheduler is responsible for scheduling patients and obtaining patient demographic information in an accurate and courteous manner. Core Duties: Obtains and enters accurate demographic, billing and clinical documentation information as required. Schedules patient appointments using the appropriate reason codes and within the appropriate timeframes for all teams. Verify insurances of scheduled patients. Follows provider and/or clinical support staff instructions for follow-up of patient care needs, i.e.-follow-up appointments and callbacks. Responds to telephone calls and messages from patients, physician offices and staff courteously and promptly with an emphasis on effective resolution. Prepares and forwards miscellaneous paperwork, i.e.-physical education documentation, work releases, etc. Responsible for coordinating testing/appointment date with patient. Obtain all appropriate insurance company authorizations. Reschedule all tests or appointments as needed. Review messages in EHR. Successfully route all medical mail once reviewed and signed by provider. Assist with reviewing all previous day (or days) Emergency Room referrals to orthopedics and schedule appointment appropriately. Coordinates and schedules provider/team meetings/seminars. Observe and comply with all OAM personnel policies and procedures Communicate and interact effectively with patients and families, physicians, peers and other team members to maximize successful patient outcomes. Maintain the confidentiality of patient and staff related information. Follow compliance and safety requirements. Assumes responsibility for maximizing customer satisfaction. Stresses positive guest relations. Maintains and edits scheduling templates and reschedules patients as required by provider. Other duties as assigned.
