About The Position

Have you ever considered a career in non-profit fundraising? The ORIGINS Summer Internship Program in Development and Alumni Relations offers undergraduate students a unique opportunity to explore institutional advancement – the art of fundraising for higher education. Program Overview The 2026 ORIGINS Summer Internship runs for ten weeks, from June 1 - August 7, 2026. Interns will gain practical experience and develop key skills in alumni relations, philanthropy, and program management. At Johns Hopkins, your work will support faculty and staff who are transforming healthcare, advancing education, and developing technology that can impact the world for generations. Staff in Development & Alumni Relations cultivate relationships with alumni, donors, prospective students, parents, organizations, and foundations – activities collectively referred to as institutional advancement, development, or philanthropy. As an intern, you will contribute to these efforts through event planning, prospect research, donor stewardship, marketing, writing, alumni relations, and program coordination. What You Will Gain As an ORIGINS intern, you will: Have the opportunity to engage with donors, while gaining knowledge about individual and grateful patient fundraising. Work alongside and learn from industry-leading development and alumni relations professionals. Interact with executive-level leaders and contribute to meaningful projects. Develop problem-solving, research, and professional skills in a dynamic environment. Collaborate with fellow interns on a cohort keystone project.

Requirements

  • Full-time undergraduate student currently enrolled at a higher education institution.
  • U.S. citizen.
  • Submission of resume and personal statement.
