About The Position

The Organizational Development and Training Manager at the City of Tucson's Water Department develops and administers programs related to the professional development of staff and professionalization of the utility as a whole through the lenses of people, processes, and technology. Projects in this area include efforts to meet or exceed industry standards and best practices across all functional areas. The team acts as internal consultants to department leadership in all aspects of the items above. Work is performed under the supervision of the Water Administrator. This position supervises the organizational development and training section.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five (5) years of directly related experience
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis

Responsibilities

  • Manages the department’s internal and vendor-provided training programs and resources including administration of the Learning Management System to ensure comprehensive and robust technical and professional development training.
  • Advises department leadership on industry best practices and standards; develops and manages improvement projects as necessary.
  • Maintain and improve the department’s professionalism through knowledge management and transfer programs and continuous improvement projects.
  • Leads the department’s new hire onboarding program to ensure effective and efficient integration of new personnel into the organization.
  • Manages, coordinates, and determines priorities of work, monitoring levels of resources, establishing timelines, assigning work, monitoring progress, recommending changes and suggestions, writing, reviewing and editing reports prepared by staff, and approving completed projects and reports.
  • Provides customer service by responding to information requests, conducting research, providing solutions to problems, and correcting errors.
