About The Position

The Organ Utilization Program Manager (OUPM) leads the training and education program for the Organ Utilization Coordinator Team (OUCT). This role provides advanced expertise in organ allocation and logistics strategies to optimize the utilization of organs for transplant and research. The OUE designs, delivers, and evaluates comprehensive training and educational programs to ensure Organ Utilization Coordinators (OUCs) achieve and maintain operational excellence. Through instructor-led and on-the-job training, competency assessments, and continuous development initiatives, the OUPM supports a culture of quality, consistency, and innovation.

  • Demonstrated compassion, professionalism, ethical conduct, and effective interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in healthcare-related sciences; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may substitute.
  • Four or more years of experience in organ allocation, OPO operations, transplant coordination, or advanced clinical practice.
  • At least two years of experience in organ allocation
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in organ donation, transplantation, or healthcare administration, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities
  • Skills typically gained through working in nursing, clinical operations leadership, transplant coordination, or advanced OPO practice required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in evaluating donor clinical data and advising on allocation or utilization strategies.
  • Proven experience coaching, mentoring, or training peers in clinical or OPO settings.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or applicable medical or religious exemption will be required as a condition of employment upon offer.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement, and maintain comprehensive onboarding and continuing education programs for OUCs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of organ utilization, allocation, and logistics practices.
  • Design and deliver education using multiple modalities including in-person, virtual, hybrid, and e-learning formats, to support diverse learning styles.
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to establish curricula, assign, track, and document training and competencies, monitor compliance, and maintain accurate training records.
  • Monitor orientation and training progress and facilitate continuous feedback between preceptors and orientees, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to preceptors and orientees; adjust orientation plans based on individual needs and performance outcomes.
  • Identify training needs and develop initiatives to enhance organ utilization operations.
  • Develop continuing education programs and resources to support ongoing professional development to enhance team knowledge and skills.
  • Create training materials and implementation plans for new or revised processes and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain training schedules for all OUC orientees.
  • Partner with the training department to develop and coordinate professional development initiatives for the OUCT and other clinical staff members.
  • Create educational resources that support ongoing professional growth and competency related to organ utilization.
  • Support Organ Donation Services (ODS) staff as a clinical expert for organ allocation and logistics strategy.
  • Provide education and in-services on organ utilization for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Function independently as an Organ Utilization Coordinator, overseeing allocation processes and ensuring compliance with regulatory policies.
  • Analyze clinical data and allocation trends to inform donor suitability and allocation strategy decisions.
  • Ensure all training content reflects current regulatory and organizational policies.
  • Participate in quality reviews and audits to identify training-related opportunities for improvement.
  • Proactively modify education and training programs in response to audit findings, operational trends, and compliance needs.
  • Maintain complete and accurate training and competency records in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Submit required documentation for all training events delivered and attended.
  • Develop and ensure consistent application and compliance with regulatory standards/requirements plus departmental policies and procedures.
  • Office hours as required and/or assigned by Director, Organ Utilization, including attendance at departmental and quarterly meetings.
  • Provide after-hours strategic and operational support to the OUCT.
  • Respond to calls during nights, weekends, and holidays to provide strategic guidance on complex allocation, utilization, and logistics decisions.
  • Support the OUCT in time-sensitive scenarios by providing expert consultation while reinforcing regulatory compliance and best practices.
  • Serve as an escalation resource to promote consistency, confidence, and appropriate decision-making to optimize organ utilization.
  • Complete and submit monthly reconciliation of business expenses charged to the corporate VISA card by prescribed deadlines.
  • Perform additional duties assigned to support organizational and departmental needs.
  • Follows other instructions/directions and will perform other related duties as required by the needs of the company and the leadership team.
  • Complies with applicable laws, regulations, and LifeCenter policies and procedures.
  • Participates in compliance, quality assurance, and performance improvement programs and initiatives.
