About The Position

The Orderly assist surgery colleagues and physicians in providing professional, quality, and service-oriented care to the patient and family.

Requirements

• High school graduate.
• Ability to push/pull and/or lift 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent education and /or experience.
• Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification or completion of certification within a probationary period.
• prior patient care experience.
• knowledge of medical terminology and sterile techniques.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient transport.
• Responds to surgical room cleaning turnover needs including damp disinfectant dusting, mopping, removal of contaminated biohazard waste and linens.
• Assists in preparation for surgical procedures.
• Opens and assists with delivery of sterile supplies to the sterile field.
• Breaks down the sterile field and returns contaminated carts to the decontamination area.
• Terminally cleans transport stretchers and returns them to a point of care.
• Picks up assigned floor beds for the surgical patient post procedure.
• Transports lab and pathology specimens to various receiving departments.
• Assists with surgical shave preps and scrub preps as directed by the perioperative registered nurse.
• Assists with patient positioning as directed by the perioperative registered nurse.
• Assists with collection and transport of X-rays to the surgical suites.
• Assists with pick up and collection of blood products.
• Assists in transportation and patient care needs for PACU as directed.
• Performs surgical light maintenance demonstrated by changing light bulbs.
• Prepares operating room admission packets.
• Keep the hallways and exits clear and clean.
• Monitors outdate on sterile supplies.
• Monitors medical gases for correct storage and inventory levels.
