About The Position
The OR Technician (Surgical Technologist) is responsible for delivering high-quality perioperative patient care by assisting in surgical and invasive procedures. This role functions as a scrub assistant to physicians, ensuring proper use of surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile techniques. The position operates under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and follows established surgical technologist competency standards.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
- Prior experience in an operating room setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile techniques
Nice To Haves
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred (if applicable)
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields for surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and supplies
- Ensure proper handling and functionality of surgical equipment
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to support efficient procedures
- Adhere to aseptic and infection control protocols
- Assist in room setup and turnover between procedures
- Serve as a resource and role model for other staff members
