About The Position

A leading Kansas City hospital is hiring an OR Tech II (Tier 2) to support a high-volume, multi-specialty surgical services department. This role requires strong intraoperative technical skills, strict adherence to sterile technique, and the ability to anticipate surgeon and team needs. As a Tier 2 technologist, you will handle a broad range of surgeries while contributing to an efficient, collaborative, and safety-driven operating room environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of Operating Room technologist experience.
  • Competency to first scrub in at least three of the following specialties: Robotic surgery Total joints Neuro/Spine Vascular surgery
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (CORT).
  • BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross) required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST – NBSTSA).
  • Strong organizational skills, reliability, and wire-handling skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and ability to support high-volume case loads.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms with appropriate instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for scheduled procedures.
  • Assist with patient positioning, prepping, draping, and safe transport as needed.
  • Scrub into surgical cases, provide instruments, handle specimens, and anticipate surgeon needs.
  • Maintain strict sterile technique and support efficient room turnover.
  • Operate specialized equipment for key specialties, including robotics, total joints, neuro/spine, and vascular surgery.
  • Monitor the environment, equipment, and patient safety throughout the procedure.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, RNs, and fellow technologists to support a high-performance OR culture.
