The OR Aide will assist in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care during the perioperative period and help maintain the Operating Room environment from a physical and safety perspective. This role reports to the Perioperative Coordinator or OR Clinical Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • CPR training required
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English

Nice To Haves

  • Previous patient care experience preferred
  • O2 transportation experience preferred
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and retrieve equipment, supplies, documents, x-rays, blood products, etc. needed in providing patient care.
  • Ensure that common supplies and storage areas are stocked and readily available to the clinical staff.
  • Provide safe and efficient transport of patients, and respond appropriately to emergency situations when transporting by initiating CPR and notifying appropriate personnel.
  • Assist nursing personnel in case breakdown and set-up.
  • Assist in room turnover, adhering to appropriate techniques, disinfection of floors, OR equipment and furniture.
  • Ensure the availability of clean, dust-free and made-up stretchers and beds.
  • Keep all corridors, floors, and common areas neat and clean in appearance and free of clutter.
  • Assure the timely removal of trash from OR suites and all other areas and adhere to OR and Environmental Services protocols for the use of disinfecting chemicals and in cleaning procedures.
  • Within scope of role, assist with patient care under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
