This is an ideal position for a compassionate professional who is committed to delivering high-quality care and is looking to build lasting connections in a close-knit community. Why join us? Hokuʻula Eye Care is a well-established, multi-doctor practice located in the heart of Waimea on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. Since 1979, the team has been dedicated to providing thorough, high-quality eye care to a diverse patient population across all ages. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term home in a close-knit town and grow with a practice that values compassion, clinical excellence, and meaningful relationships. What you'll do: As an Optometrist, you’ll provide comprehensive eye care in a supportive, well-equipped practice, working between 24 and 40 hours per week. You’ll conduct detailed eye exams, prescribe and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses, and diagnose and manage a wide range of ocular conditions, including glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Patient education will be a key part of your role, as you counsel individuals on vision care, treatment plans, and preventive strategies. You’ll also collaborate with other healthcare providers as needed and maintain accurate, thorough documentation. The practice features advanced technology, including OCT, Optos, Keratograph, Optilight IPL, Cynosure RF, A- and B-scan, and corneal topography, supporting you in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. You’ll treat anywhere from 17 to 20 patients daily. Who you are: You're a passionate and dedicated individual with a deep commitment to providing exceptional eye care and improving the vision health of the community. You're highly skilled and capable of confidently handling a diverse range of patients with varying visual needs and ages. The ideal candidate strives to provide the best care for each patient. A strong commitment to continuous learning, exceptional communication skills, and a genuine passion for making a positive impact in the lives of others are essential qualities as you will play a vital role in the continued success and expansion of the business. Why you'll love Kamuela: Kamuela, also known as Waimea, offers a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and a welcoming community. Nestled in the heart of the Big Island, residents enjoy a cooler climate and rolling landscapes, with panoramic views of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and the Kohala Mountains.
