As an Optometrist at ICON, you will apply optometric expertise in the conduct of clinical trials according to the sponsor's protocol and in compliance with all applicable FDA regulations/ICH GCP guidelines and local regulations, ensuring the welfare and safety of human subjects. This position is office based in John's Creek, GA. Work hours: Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM–7:00 PM . Ideally, the schedule would also include one Saturday per month , with a weekday provided off in lieu.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed to practice optometry in the relevant jurisdiction (GA).
  • Experience in conducting eye exams and diagnosing a range of visual conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients and research teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safety of clinical subjects, conduct of the clinical trial and data integrity
  • Knowledge of study protocol requirements and procedures
  • Attend study initiation meetings
  • Ensure proper data collection and documentation
  • Ensure protocol compliance, report protocol deviations to sponsor and institutional review board (IRB) as appropriate
  • Determine adequate resources are available to conduct the study
  • Ensure initial and ongoing study review by IRB
  • Ensure the proper use and storage of investigational products
  • Effectively communicate with subjects, research team, IRB sponsor
  • Provide training to clinical staff
  • Develop monthly optometrist (OD) schedule and/or administrative tasks as necessary
  • Assist with subject schedule logistics
  • Delegate trial-related duties based on the individual's training, experience and licensure
  • Diagnose and treat adverse events (AEs); document and report to the sponsor
