You have the chance to join our team! LLE is looking for its next Beamlines Technician. A Beamlines Tech is responsible for: Supporting the operation of equipment and instrumentation for laser physics experiments Precision alignment of optical systems Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues Performing preventative maintenance Supporting engineers in design and installation of new equipment Shift flexibility is required (Morning and Evening shifts)

Requirements

  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs and navigate stairs/ladders
  • High degree of manual dexterity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills working in a team-based environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software
  • Associate's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and 1 year of relevant experience required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance required

  • Have availability to work second shift
  • Have experience with optical, mechanical, electrical systems
  • Have experience with handling precision optical components
  • Are proficient with reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Have technical writing experience
  • Experience with electrical, controls, and vacuum systems preferred

  • Proficiency reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics preferred
  • Technical writing experience preferred
  • 4 years relevant experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the assembly, alignment, and testing of optical and mechanical components used in devices such as lasers, imaging systems, and other optical instruments.
  • Ensures the proper functioning and calibration of optical systems.
  • May collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues, document procedures, and contribute to the overall manufacturing and quality control processes.
  • Performs preventative maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots optical, mechanical, and electrical issues and identifies potential solutions.
  • Participates in requirements gathering, hardware selection, installation planning, installation work, coordination of software changes, acceptance test creation and execution, and certification of system for minor systems.
  • Participates in the installation of new equipment.
  • Supports the installation and operation of equipment and instrumentation for laser physics experiments.
  • Participates in the writing/updating of procedures to ensure best practices and process improvements are being recorded.
  • Completes administrative, safety, facility, and LLE required training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
