Join field teams to build, maintain, and troubleshoot outside-plant (OSP) and premise fiber networks to strict quality and safety standards.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in fiber optic testing and remediation, preferably in data centers.
  • Hands-on experience with OTDR, OLTS, fiber scopes, and test documentation tools.
  • Proficiency in single-mode (OS2) and multi-mode (OM3/OM4/OM5) fiber.
  • Experience with fusion splicing and fiber repairs.
  • Strong understanding of polarity methods (A/B/C), MPO/MTP systems, and structured cabling.
  • Ability to read construction drawings, fiber schematics, and test specifications.
  • Familiarity with TIA, BICSI, and manufacturer standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in hyperscale or colocation data centers (Meta, Google, AWS, Vantage, etc.).
  • BICSI Technician, CFOT, or equivalent fiber certifications.
  • Experience with high-fiber-count environments and structured cabling systems.
  • Ability to lead small teams or act as a testing/remediation lead.

Responsibilities

  • Fiber Testing & Validation
  • Perform OLTS (Insertion Loss), OTDR, continuity, and polarity testing on single-mode and multi-mode fiber.
  • Conduct end-face inspection and cleaning per IEC 61300-3-35 standards.
  • Validate fiber performance against TIA-568, BICSI, ISO/IEC, and client-specific requirements.
  • Interpret OTDR traces and identify loss events, reflections, breaks, and anomalies.
  • Remediation & Troubleshooting
  • Diagnose and correct failed fiber links due to: o Dirty or damaged connectors o Excessive splice or connector loss o Bend-radius violations o Crushed, pinched, or damaged cable o Incorrect polarity or fiber mapping
  • Perform fusion splicing, re-termination, connector replacement, and fiber redressing as needed.
  • Replace defective components including patch cords, cassettes, adapters, and enclosures.
  • Ensure remediation activities do not introduce new faults or impact adjacent fibers.
  • Additional Job Requirements (Testing & Analysis)
  • Ability to read and interpret OTDR test spans, accurately differentiating loss events caused by fiber breaks, reflections, splices, connectors, and macro/micro-bends.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end link loss spans, including identification of cumulative loss versus individual event loss.
  • Ability to create, calculate, and validate optical link loss budgets, and confirm compliance with TIA/BICSI standards and client acceptance thresholds.
  • Capable of correlating OTDR results with OLTS data to determine pass/fail status and root cause.
  • Skilled in using test results to recommend and execute remediation actions to bring links within allowable loss limits.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Produce certified test reports (OLTS/OTDR) with trace analysis.
