Requirements

  • Requires Doctorate in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field and 4 years of experience in job offered or in a related occupation
  • Requires 48 months of experience involving the following: Imaging optics for both photographic and computer vision applications
  • Both sequential and non-sequential optical design software (e.g. Zemax, Code V, LightTools, FRED and/or ASAP)
  • Image quality evaluation, imaging sensor operation and characterization, stray light modeling and analysis, camera module or lens testing and characterization, imaging and illumination optics design and manufacturing
  • Theoretical analysis using MATLAB, Python or similar programs
  • Statistical analysis using MATLAB

Responsibilities

  • Drive design, development and implementation of imaging optics, and change the landscape of capabilities of AR/VR hardware.
  • Work closely with external hardware industry partners to identify, define, develop, test, and deploy state-of-the-art optics for imaging systems.
  • Work closely with internal camera and sensor, electrical engineering, and product design teams to develop imaging optics specifications, perform in-depth performance analysis and debug component and system level issues.
  • Apply knowledge of optics, hardware, applications, and programming to conduct research into fundamental computer and information science to develop the next generation near to eye display and imaging 3-Dtechnologies, hardware, and systems.
  • Employ their expertise in imaging, radiometry and photometry, unphysical and geometric optics to analyze optical problems with the goal of developing and designing solutions to hardware, middleware, and applications.
  • Responsible for developing advanced optical components and systems including imaging and display systems using spatial light modulators, diffractive optics, optical materials, and thin-films optics.
  • Responsible for modeling and prototyping of critical technologies to drive system performance and to validate achievable visual experience.
