Optical Coating Systems Field Service Engineer

EssilorLuxotticaBrooklyn Park, MN

About The Position

Optical Coating Systems Field Service Engineer Ultra Optics has spent three decades perfecting back-side coating systems for ophthalmic lenses. As part of EssilorLuxottica—the global leader in vision care innovation—you will help customers across the globe deliver world-class coatings through precision machinery, advanced lens technology, and digital solutions. Discover more by following us on LinkedIn! Your week, imagined Monday morning, you arrive at an ophthalmic lab ready to stage, install, and commission a new Ultra Optics machine. By midday you’re verifying electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic subsystems, validating chemistry application parameters, and running test batches to prove process capability. Tuesday you train technicians—walking them through lab procedures like tinting, surfacing considerations, and proper cleaning protocols—before documenting everything in a thorough service report. Midweek, you pivot to remote diagnostics—fielding calls and emails with calm professionalism—then jump on a flight for an urgent on-site repair. Before the week wraps, you recondition a trade-in unit back at the shop, refine a service checklist to remove non-value-added steps, and book your next customer visit while staying within divisional travel goals.
