The successful candidate will demonstrate mastery of optical design of complex systems, error budgeting, and analysis of operational data collected from those systems. You will posses a breadth of knowledge required to architect complex optical payloads to meet mission-level requirements. You will lead cross-discipline, multi-organization teams to deliver state-of-the-art subsystems and payloads to our internal and external customers. You will balance the inherent risk associated with new and innovative systems with the Lockheed Martin standard of 100% mission success. You will work at the bleeding edge of technology, incorporating AI-enabled design tools and 1LMX capability where appropriate.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in a Science or Engineering discipline.
  • Experience with the design, alignment, and optical performance analysis, of division-of-wavefront (DoW) optical systems, whether multi-aperture or segmented primary.
  • Expertise in modeling the performance of subsystems required to capture and aligned a DoW imaging system, including GRISMs.
  • Expertise with image-based wavefront sensing and control methods, sufficient to write new models from scratch.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at both a technical and executive leadership level.
  • US Citizen.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

  • A Master's degree in a Science or Engineering discipline.
  • Success shaping and winning strategic CRAD.
  • Success leading technical teams across multiple orgs.
  • Success leading root cause analysis tiger teams, or equivalent, and subsequent anomaly resolution.
  • Established relationships with government organizations such as NGA, AFRL, etc.
