About The Position

The Movement Disorders Division within the Department of Neurology in the College of Medicine at the University of Florida is currently recruiting a research assistant to assist with dystonia related research protocols. This assistant would assist with transcranial magnetic stimulation based studies with the Human Motor Function and Brain Stimulation lab. About This Role Dr. Aparna Wagle Shukla is working on elucidating the physiological mechanisms in movement disorders with specific focus on dystonia. The lab uses transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) technique for conduction of clinical research. The lab also uses repetitive TMS therapy (FDA approved therapy for depression) as a novel therapeutic application for treatment of dystonia and other involuntary movement disorders. The primary responsibility is to conduct TMS experiments under the direct supervision of Dr. Wagle Shukla. The spectrum of the work involves coordination of the participant visits, obtaining consents, recording data and management of IRB related requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, psychology, biology, health sciences, or a related field.
  • Prior experience supporting clinical or human subjects research studies.
  • Familiarity with IRB processes, informed consent procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with data collection, data entry, and research record management.
  • Knowledge of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), neurophysiology, or movement disorders preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate participant visits and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with research participants and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic research database systems.
