About The Position

Serves as the Florida Breast and Cervical Early Detection Program (FBCC) OPS Registered Nursing Consultant which is a responsible professional position working under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager I in the Bureau of Tobacco Free Florida, Cancer Prevention and Control, Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Serve as clinical expertise and support for the FBCC, which includes reviewing and providing approval to program related clinical cases in accordance with national and federal program guidance for FBCC State Health Office and regional staff. Provides education and direction for follow-up of clinical findings, as needed. Maintains and tracks clinical review decisions and related data. Reviews supporting documentation submitted with regional clinical requests (MRI, Biopsy, etc.) for approvals and refers Medicaid applications of women diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer or qualifying conditions through the FBCC to the Department of Children’s and Families (DCF) for eligibility determination for treatment on Medicaid through the Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA). Works with FBCC staff, DCF and AHCA to facilitate review of specific program related Medicaid problems, as applicable. Maintains current expertise regarding FBCC related clinical policy, practice and standards, which affect the Department of Health’s County Health Departments and other implementation clinics, offices and delivery systems. Promotes adherence to clinical standards and protocols among all participating sites through regular communication with local program personnel and review of medical records, program data reports, data collection forms or other program related documents. Participate in regular program meetings providing clinical updates and clinical discussion related calls with State Health Office and regional clinical back up staff, as needed. Plans, develops, and presents FBCC clinical related training including current medical issues related to the program, as necessary. Shares information with the FBCC regional coordinators and providers, as applicable. Plans Quality Assurance/ Improvement activities as necessary. Provides clinical data quality reviews and support to assure high quality clinical data submission and adherence to minimum data elements indicators for the FBCC. Performs other related duties as assigned or required by program activities.

Requirements

  • Must be an active listener and ask questions, as appropriate.
  • Bachelor of Science of Nursing degree or higher in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Must hold an active Registered Nurse License in the State of Florida (F.S. Reference: 464) or Multistate RN License from another Compact State.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of clinical experience.
  • Able to work independently, prioritize and manage a daily schedule of activities.
  • Computer skills, including use of standard office machinery such as laptops, scanners, cell phones, printers and programs such as Outlook, Power Point, Excel and SharePoint.
  • Experience with electronic health records and data entry.
