About The Position

This is work involving the skills working in laundry and of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair.

Requirements

  • Ability to install equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Ability to repair machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Knowledge of performing routine laundry and maintenance and determining when and what kind of service is needed.
  • Ability to troubleshoot by determining what is causing an operating error and deciding what to do about it.
  • Knowledge of determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Knowledge of conducting tests to determine whether equipment, software, or procedures are operating as expected.
  • Ability to inspect and evaluate the quality of products.
  • Knowledge of controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Knowledge of watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related document
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repairs, and maintenances.
  • Knowledge of equipment, tools, mechanical devices, and their uses to produce motion, light, power, technology, and other applications

Nice To Haves

  • Have experience operating laundry equiment.
  • Additional preference will be given to candidates with experience in laundry maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing or electrical or mechanical equipment; or
  • Vocational/technical training in mechanical repair or one of the building trades can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laundry and janitorial duties in compliance with DJJ Detention Service Manual.
  • Wash, dry, fold and put away all laundry and clean area daily.
  • Clean the lint filter out of all lint on a daily or every time something is dried.
  • Stock supplies in the cage by the Kitchen for facility Shift Supervisor’s.
  • Have baskets ready with change of clothing for all living units daily.
  • Do inventory in the Shed and put all arriving orders away in the shed and conduct a perpetual inventory.
  • Place orders with the Administrative Assistant I.
  • Attends scheduled shift training sessions and meetings.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by Superintendent and / or Assistant Superintendents.
  • Ensures that all related duties are performed in a timely and correct manner
