About The Position

OPS Government Operations Consultant I (Graphic Designer) (37970367) The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a creative, well-organized, self-motivated individual to provide design services for interpretive projects serving the needs of the Division of Recreation and Parks (DRP) which includes Florida State Parks and provides leadership for outdoor recreation in Florida. Florida State Parks span the entire state with 175 state parks and trails managing over 800,000 acres. The team this individual would join is charged with visual storytelling to support the Florida State Park’s Mission. “To provide resource-based recreation, while preserving, interpreting and restoring natural and cultural resources.”

  • Verify the ability to manage state procurement contracts

Responsibilities

  • Applying professional experience to theme-driven design projects aimed to enhance and inspire the visitor’s understanding, appreciation and support for Florida’s resources.
  • Developing graphic layouts for nonpersonal interpretive content including museum exhibits, interpretive signs, print material, infographics, reports, presentations and digital media for internal and external audiences.
  • Successfully collaborating with team members representing a variety of disciplines, while maintaining the integrity of quality design.
  • Leading multiple projects through successful workflow during the research, content development, design, production, distribution and evaluation stages.
  • Working independently with little supervision.
  • Preparing procurement and production files for assigned interpretive projects.
  • Developing and maintaining an inventory of successful nonpersonal interpretive products and resources.
  • Designing graphic design training materials and presentations for staff to guide successful interpretive projects.
  • Providing graphic design and interpretive product expertise when reviewing planning, design and fabrication work done by staff, vendors or partners.
  • Traveling when required for statewide meetings, trainings, site visits and project coordination.
  • Assisting with program operations and supporting other bureau functions as assigned.
