This independent professional position requires technical knowledge of the Department of Health’s Food Safety and Sanitation Program (FSSP). The position requires knowledge and interpretation of relevant Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Codes, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Code. The incumbent will be responsible for providing food safety and sanitation training to Department of Health staff throughout the state of Florida. Work duties include: Conducts formal classroom instruction, seminars, and workshops and provides on-site training to field personnel with duties in the FSSP program. Prepares lesson guides and program plans and evaluates the performance of trainees. Assists in planning and implementing seminars and workshops to be included in the training program. Prepares training records and reports. Meets with program personnel to identify current training needs for their operations. Prepared audio-visual aids and operated audio-visual equipment during training workshops. Participates in staff conferences and curricula development to develop and improve training programs. Obtaining the certified environmental health professional credential in food safety. Performs inspections for standardization purposes. Performs related work as required. Travels up to 50% of the individual’s time worked.
