Requirements

• Master’s Degree (Required)
• Bachelor’s Degree (acceptable with required experience)
• Minimum three (3) years of blood bank experience in a laboratory environment (preferred)
• Completion of an accredited clinical laboratory science training program
• Technical Blood Bank & Immunohematology Expertise
• Regulatory & Quality Compliance
• Analytical & Data Interpretation Skills
• Communication Skills
• Organizational & Time Management
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills

Responsibilities

• Compatibility (crossmatch) testing
• Resolution of RBC blood group antibody problems
• Component manufacturing (plasma, leukoreduced RBC, platelets)
• Evaluation of transfusion orders
• Perform laboratory testing (pre-analytical, analytical, post-analytical phases)
• Perform testing per regulatory and accrediting agency requirements
• Monitor operational procedures
• Perform quality assurance functions
• Interpret research or operational data
• Record research data
• Operate and calibrate laboratory equipment
• Communicate with nurses and physicians to clarify transfusion/testing orders
• Manage blood inventory
• Maintain laboratory samples and equipment
