OVERVIEW: Lockheed Martin is looking for a dynamic and dedicated, senior level systems engineering leader to command the Overhead Persistent InfraRed (OPIR) Flight Operations Support (FOS) team that provides flight operations products and specialized on-orbit satellite operations technical support to the “no fail” USSF missile warning and tracking mission. What does this role look like? The successful candidate will lead and manage a team of approximately 75 managers and engineers that is geographically dispersed in Sunnyvale, CA and Boulder, CO, in providing Flight Operations Support to the USSF Space Based InfraRed System (SBIRS) and Next Generation OPIR Geosynchronous Eart Orbit (GEO) (NGG) programs including managing the team’s technical direction, financials, schedule, risk posture, staffing, talent management, and collaborative interfaces with management, customers, and subcontractors. The core technical responsibilities of this role will involve developing and maintaining SBIRS and NGG flight operations support products, including: operational storyboards, sequences, executable scripts, procedures, plans, parameter files, limit files, orbit analysis tools, satellite and ground system state of health and performance analysis tools, and mission displays; and delivering extensive technical support to SBIRS and NGG operations, including: planning and conducting on-orbit space vehicle maneuvers, deployments, initializations, and calibrations; assessing space vehicle and ground system state of health and performance data; troubleshooting and resolving on-orbit space vehicle and ground system operational anomalies. This is a high-visibility position that offers an opportunity to quickly make a significant impact on the future of TT&W and LM Space. This position requires a high level of technical and business acumen to balance priorities, drive issue prevention/resolution, and clearly communicate status and needs to our customers/partners, and with both Lockheed Martin and supplier executives. This position will also demand seasoned leadership skills to direct and manage a range of concurrent activities for multiple customers while maintaining a high-level of situational awareness and insight, the ability to make judicious decisions in high-pressure environments, and strong interpersonal skills to foster and maintain partnering relationships with a range of stakeholders. This position is expected to require domestic travel less than 15%.
