About The Position

This position will support Red Wing, Cannon Falls, Lake City, Owatonna and Waseca. Home site can be either Owatonna or Red Wing. The supervisor is responsible for work direction, education, orientation, and operational problem solving within the unit on a day-to-day basis for Certified Ophthalmic Medical Personnel; LPNs; Ophthalmic Photographers; Contact Lens Technicians and Assistants; Refractive Surgery Technicians; Visual Field/EPPU Technicians and Eye Technicians working in the clinic and hospitals. The supervisor is also responsible for problem solving technical, scheduling, and equipment issues for Ophthalmology Consultants. Supervisor is responsible for identifying and initiating improvements in unit matters to facilitate daily operations. The Supervisor schedules work assignments, is responsible for timekeeping activities, completes annual performance appraisals, and oversees orientation, training, and integration of technical personnel to ensure effective and efficient technical assistance to the Ophthalmic Practice. The Supervisor initiates, coordinates, and participates in the interview and selection of prospective employees. The supervisor is also responsible for obtaining and maintaining ophthalmic instrument/equipment and related supplies.

Requirements

  • A high school degree or equivalent is required.
  • Must have strong communication and human relation skills to carry out supervisory duties and to interact with a variety of people at different levels within the institution.
  • Successful completion of a JRCOMP (Joint Review Committee for Ophthalmic Medical Personnel) approved program for Ophthalmic Assistance.
  • JCAHPO (Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology) certification as a COA/COT/COMT, with current CPR certification is required.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of current ophthalmology techniques, standards of practice, technology, and equipment.
  • Must have demonstrated management/leadership skills, communication, problem solving, and organizational ability.
  • Must be highly organized, efficient, work independently, and have the ability to exercise good judgment
  • Must be certified as a COA, COT, or COMT level
