About The Position

The new ophthalmologist will join a busy private practice with an abundant patient base and strong local presence. They operate out of a main office in Grand Island, but also have smaller satellite offices in neighboring communities, as well as participation in a nearby multi-specialty surgery center. A full patient panel will be available immediately, due to the existing wait list and a strong referral base in local optometrists and medical doctors. Overall duties of the role include, but are not limited to: - diagnose eye conditions - treat eye conditions - work with patients to prevent eye diseases and vision problems - perform eye exams - prescribe medications and corrective lenses - conduct eye surgeries Among other surgeries and procedures, the office offers: - small incision, no-stitch cataract surgery - advanced technology lens implants - iStents - goniotomy - in-office eyelid surgery for upper and lower eyelid disorders - lesion removal - therapeutic Botox injections - laser surgery for capsular opacity, diabetes, and glaucoma The current ophthalmologists perform 600 to 800 surgeries per year and see a maximum of 40 patients per standard office day. The actual number of patients per day varies based upon types of appointments scheduled. Ophthalmologists are highly supported with a team that includes: - technicians - scribes - nurses - surgery schedulers The practice has extensive resources and state-of-the-art equipment, including: - IOLMaster 700 - Cirrus OCT - Humphrey Visual Field - Visulas Yag III Laser - Compulink EMR with AI Scribe The new ophthalmologist will have the option to participate in hospital on-call for an annual stipend. Call activity primarily happens during regular business hours and, on average, there are 7 to 10 calls per month. It is very rare to have call activity on weekends or in the evening. On-call is scheduled flexibility to ensure minimal impact to work/life balance.
