About The Position

Join us as an Ophthalmologist at the Columbia VA Medical Center, located in Columbia, SC. This is a full-time contract position. W-2 or 1099 employment options available. Inquire for more details. Duties include: Providing comprehensive clinical Ophthalmology services including full range of oculoplastic Ophthalmology/Glaucoma specialist. Providing bedside and clinic consultative services for patients. Scheduling procedures within 30 days of receiving consults. Following all medication policies and procedures. Providing discharge education and follow up instructions to patients. Attending all required staff meetings. Schedule: Full-time, 8A-4:30P Mon-Fri. No weekends or federal holidays unless on call. Call rotation among clinic providers- one week per month to include the weekend. Period of Performance: 5 years (12-month base period w/ 4 renewal options) 6/1/2026-5/31/2031. Who we are: Monterey is a Veterans Affairs (VA) Verified Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB). We graduated from the SBA 8(a) Program and have a variety of contracts available for use. What we do: Monterey teams with general practice, specialists, and allied health practitioners nationwide to provide local coverage for examinees. We deliver a wide range of medical examination-only services to public sectors and the individuals they serve. Our clients include the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), the Department of Labor, the Department of Defense, and more. Our provider network consists of over 700 providers in various medical specialties and degree types. They conduct diagnostic-only examination services on an as-needed basis. These services may take place in their private office, established clinics located across the country, or during travel opportunities for group screening events. Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (MD/DO) in Ophthalmology or equivalent.
  • Must have completed residency accredited by the ACGME and an appropriate approved fellowship if providing subspecialty care.
  • BC/BE by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO), and current BLS or ACLS required.
  • Must be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position.
  • In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
  • Subject to background/security investigation.
  • Must pass TB test.
  • Complete an online onboarding process.
  • Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
