Department DH EYE CLINIC PAV L Job Summary The Ophthalmic Technician I will be responsible for conducting basic ophthalmic technical support activities that assist the ophthalmologists, residents, and optometrists in delivering care to patients in the outpatient eye clinic.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
1-3 years ophthalmology experience or completion of ophthalmic apprenticeship required
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Epic EHR Documentation Knowledge of basic ophthalmic assisting techniques, including optics and visual acuity assessment

Responsibilities

Performs ocular examinations, including history taking, visual acuity, ocular motility assessment, intraocular pressure measurement, lensometry, and pupillary assessment.
Performs visual field testing, OCT, pachymetry, topography, A-scan biometry, and ocular photography.
Performs refractometry and records findings accurately for provider review.
Provides patient education on contact lens care, glasses, and medications.
Responsible for stocking exam rooms and maintaining exam room equipment.
Learns and performs fluorescein angiography, cataract evaluations, and pediatric eye assessments.
