About The Position

Reporting to SVP/GM Ophthalmics, the Ophthalmic Inside Sales Manager is dedicated to building strong relationships with both internal and external customers. With a leadership focus on accelerating sales growth, this role manages the inside sales team to optimize customer experience and exceed revenue targets through dynamic coaching and innovative sales strategies that expand market opportunities. This position ensures revenue growth for the organization by meeting and exceeding the sales goals set within the organization through effective sales planning, targeting and closing new business within current customer accounts. The Ophthalmic Inside Sales Manager works with commercial, internal, external, ophthalmology sales teams, as well as leadership. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience is required.
  • 4+ years of team management and pharmaceutical, medical or healthcare sales experience required. 5+ preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading a team, must be able to speak to specifics on best practice selling skills.
  • Excellent people management skills and the ability to drive sales results; must be metric driven.
  • Results-oriented professional who is articulate and can make and meet commitments and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented individual who is organized and can effectively convert data into actionable plans and results.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills along with well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient written, verbal and oral English communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools including Outlook, Microsoft, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with CRM systems.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds periodically.

  • Understanding of 503B regulatory requirements, cGMP standards, and USP guidelines is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Builds, trains, coaches, motivates, and leads a team of high performing Ophthalmic Sales Specialists Representatives, ensuring achievement of sales targets through account and product prioritization, developing a plan of action for each account, and closing sales.
  • Drives new customer acquisition by proactively identifying and targeting potential clients, developing tailored outreach strategies, and cultivating relationships to expand the organization’s customer base and market presence.
  • Establish and maintain a current pipeline for sales opportunities and targets for the team in the CRM system, with special emphasis on sourcing and converting new business leads into loyal customers.
  • Regularly track and report on new customer acquisition metrics and sales growth initiatives to ensure sustained momentum and progress.
  • Accountable for performance management and growth of the team based on company goals for revenue and growth, including specific targets for new customer acquisition and market share expansion.
  • Thoroughly understands product portfolio and relevant messaging to communicate thoroughly to team and customers, equipping the team to highlight unique value propositions that appeal to new prospects and drive sales growth.
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends, determine root cause, and use in plan of action to improve sales performance, with a focus on identifying gaps and opportunities for acquiring new customers and entering untapped markets.
  • Quickly initiate and implement plan of action to sell additional portfolio products in our fast-paced environment, while also launching targeted campaigns to attract and win new business.
  • Demonstrate nimble response to continuously changing market, and plan for successfully meeting all sales goals, including aggressive targets for new customer acquisition and revenue growth.
  • Coach team to focus on product expansion and build a target list and weekly priorities that reflect these goals, prioritizing new customer acquisition alongside account development.
  • Review and analyze failed or lacking processes to effectively change the plan of action and grow and improve, especially in areas related to prospecting, onboarding, and converting new customers.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to ensure the team is thoroughly prepared for each sales call. This includes account research, setting clear goals, addressing potential objections, leveraging available resources, and establishing comprehensive follow-up strategies—all aligned with objectives to acquire new customers and drive incremental sales growth.
  • Understand and communicate the value that our organization brings to customers, emphasizing benefits and solutions that will resonate with potential new clients and encourage engagement.
  • With the SVP/GM Opthalmics, prepare annual sales plan and prepare monthly updates to ensure successful progress to the end goal, including measurable objectives for new customer acquisition and overall sales growth.
  • Coach to and verify all CRM system sales opportunities and outbound activities with customers and leads, ensuring that new business development efforts are accurately recorded, tracked, and leveraged to maximize growth potential.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Directly hire and lead a team of Ophthalmic Sales Specialists
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment, providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring as needed to achieve a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Conduct regular 1:1’s to address performance, feedback and relationship building.
  • Identify training and development needs within the team and facilitate as able.
