As an Malthouse Operator you will oversee the production process executing steeping, germination, and kilning operations. Every shift brings something different!

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the steeping process to ensure progress aligns with the established steep schedule, including loading barley into tanks and transferring steeped barley to the appropriate bed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas, including tanks, floors, screw conveyors, and the steep overflow basin, in accordance with plant sanitation standards.
  • Monitor germinating barley by controlling bed temperature and moisture levels, and operate the germination turning machine as required.
  • Supply green malt to roasters and dextrinizing tanks, including shoveling and sweeping remaining grain and preparing compartments for washing.
  • Load, monitor, control, and document the kilning process, which may include dropping kiln decks, cleaning equipment, and transferring finished product to the elevator. Inspect and clean the leg magnet daily during kiln transfers.
  • Monitor the fire suppression system, including daily checks of dry valve sprinkler system air pressure, and demonstrate full understanding of alarms and required responses for emergencies or false alarms.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks to support the continuous operation of the production process.
  • Complete and document all assigned daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and inspection tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support efficient plant operations and meet customer requirements.
