About The Position

Operate pump station, monitor station functions, and assist in maintenance and repair of station and components. Assist in providing security and safety for BWWB facilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Valid Driver's License required
Passing grade on BWW Entrance Exam for Water Treatment Plants required
Vessel license required or must obtain within six months of the hire date
One (1) year of water plant operations, pump station and maintenance operations experience required.
Knowledge in mechanics, electrical, plumbing, hydraulics, and welding.
Must have basic computer skills.

ADEM Grade 1 Certification preferred

Responsibilities

Monitor and adjust station operations
Control tank levels by starting and stopping pumps to ensure efficiency Calculate tank rise and fall using flow and consumption figures
Observe and monitor motor equipment, cooling water, oil levels, packing water, and log readings
Recognize and note when problems occur incident forms and notify proper personnel Communicate with customers by providing excellent customer service
Check the cooling water piping filters and clean them as needed
Maintain and clean the assigned plant area
Assist in plant and ground maintenance
Assist with Raw Water Samples/Analysis
Monitor raw water conditions for odor, pH, temperature, and other abnormalities/contamination of the intake basin
Monitor and control valves and assist with inspections
Work with the Security department to monitor and maintain plant security and equipment
Assist with maintenance at Alabama Street/Mulberry Booster and other raw water facilities
Perform all work safely in accordance with established safety policies and procedures Comply with all safety and health standards and guidelines issued by management
Perform other duties as assigned.
