About The Position

SUMMARY: Operate various types of large machines in a production environment to produce a product. Types of machines are (but not limited to) extrusion, laminator, tarp machine, winder, seal cart, etc. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Direct or lead the efforts of other operators.Act as liaison between operators and supervisory staff.Perform product changeovers.Perform machine setting adjustments to achieve quality and productivity objectives.Perform quality tests on products.Train new machine operators.Ensure necessary paperwork and production transactions are completed.Identify and communicate safety hazards to appropriate contact.Inspect product for quality standards during various stages of production and packaging.Recommend production improvement initiatives. Load and unload material throughout production run.Package material for shipment by cutting, wrapping, palletizing, banding, labeling, etc.Monitor material and machine conditions.Set up and operate large machines.Verify machine is set up to requirements to assure production of a quality product.May perform or assist with product changeovers.May perform or assist in making machine setting adjustments to achieve quality and productivity objectives.May perform preventative and minor maintenance on equipment.Read and verify work processes for accuracy according to specifications.Participate in production improvement initiatives. Maintain a safe and clean work area by completing general housekeeping tasks.Demonstrates Viaflex Team Member Values in their daily actions and encourages their teams to do the same.Learning, understanding, continuously improving, and promoting the division’s quality management system in accordance with ISO standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated proficiency as Operator II, as determined by the Production leadership staff.
  • Ability to effectively direct the work efforts of other team members.
  • Aptitude to learn mechanical skills.
  • Team player who is self-motivated and has ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace efficiently.
  • Ability to read blueprints and work instructions and maintain accurate records.
  • Proficient with computers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.
  • Good eye/hand coordination.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to operate forklift, pallet mover, or hoist equipment.
  • Forklift certification may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous machine operation experience preferred, but not required.
