About The Position

Our team of innovative engineers and scientists is committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in rocket propulsion. As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a skilled Operations Technician – Safety to join our team. A skilled manufacturing professional who executes standard production processes for solid rocket motors while serving as the primary safety lead for the team. This position ensures all work complies with AS9100 quality standards, OSHA industrial safety regulations, and mandatory DoD 4145.26-M explosive safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Certifications: Currently HAZWOPER certified (24 or 40-hour) and Safety Plus trained, or the ability to attain these within 7 days of hire.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Proven understanding of OSHA standards and DoD 4145.26-M requirements for handling ammunition and explosives.
  • Technical: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, LOTO procedures, and technical work instructions.
  • Status: Must acquire and maintain Employee Possessor (EP) status under the Safe Explosives Act (SEA).
  • Physical: Able to stand for long periods, work from knees, and navigate physically demanding manufacturing environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Operations: Certified to operate forklifts/telehandlers per [OSHA 1910.178]
  • 2–5 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or hazardous environments.
  • Prior experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) for explosives.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with precision measuring instruments and hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Production & Execution: Solid rocket motor manufacturing processes including tooling/assembly/disassembly, case surface prep, machining, and final assembly.
  • DoD Explosive Compliance: Enforce DoD Manual 4145.26-M standards, specifically the "Cardinal Rule": exposing the minimum amount of people to the minimum quantity of explosives for the minimum time.
  • OSHA & Workplace Oversight: Monitor the work area for compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910, including machine guarding, LOTO, fall protection, and respiratory safety.
  • Hazardous Response: Utilize HAZWOPER training to manage hazardous substance releases in a defensive fashion, protecting personnel and the environment.
  • Incident Management: Conduct root-cause investigations for near-misses or mishaps, ensuring timely notification to OHSA and Contracting Officers as required by DFARS 252.223-7002.
  • Training & Mentorship: Lead safety briefings and verify that team members are correctly utilizing appropriate PPE and following Safety Plus guidelines.
