About The Position

As an Operations Supervisor you will supervise, train, and coordinate the work of personnel responsible for the operation and inspection of the electric system, including all substation equipment, oil and gas filled cable systems, diesel generators and gas insulated bus systems. This position resides in the Operation’s Department at Palisades Division. Supervise and direct the day-to-day operation of the Distribution and Sub-transmission System, while emphasizing safety, reliability, service restoration, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in the operations of the distribution and sub-transmission system or Power Generation OR Engineering Degree with 2 years of distribution and sub-transmission or Power Generation experience.
  • Must have obtained an acceptable score on the First Line Supervisor’s Test within the last two years or must obtain an acceptable score on the First Line Supervisor’s Test.
  • Must have a valid US Drivers’ License
  • Must be knowledgeable in the restoration of circuit operation and safety standards.
  • Will be required to work an On-call Schedule/Storm Duty and perform the duties of the Division Operations Manager when required.
  • Must be computer literate including MS office applications.
  • Some positions at PSEG require access to information covered by the Department of Energy’s regulation 10 CFR 810 (Part 810).   • For all roles, PSEG’s drug and alcohol testing program includes pre-employment testing, testing for cause, and post-incident/accident testing.
  • Employees who are hired or transfer into a federally regulated role (including positions covered by USDOT, PHMSA, or NRC regulations) are subject to random drug and alcohol testing, inclusive of marijuana.
  • Although numerous states throughout the country have legalized marijuana/cannabis products recreationally and medically, the use of these products are prohibited for employees in federally regulated roles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a work environment where the needs and wants of both our internal and external customers are satisfied in a professional and competent manner.
  • Direct the work of Substation Operators, Troubleshooters and Service Dispatchers, and interact with other group/departmental personnel.
  • Review and approve requests for equipment and circuit outages.
  • Coordinate this work within and outside the Division.
  • Prepare reports on overtime, workload, manpower requirements and abnormal conditions.
  • Develop or possess a thorough understanding of the various PSE&G Electric Operations programs (OMS, ADMS, eMaps, SCADA, etc.)
  • Make long and short-term schedules to ensure appropriate manpower levels are maintained.
  • Conduct safety training.
  • Shift work is required.
  • Resolve customer complaints in the field.
  • Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG standards for Business Controls and meet management's expectations for effective internal business controls.
  • Ensure that required policies and procedures are being followed, and that any local department-level procedures encompassing the NERC Compliance Standards Requirements are up to date and aligned with all current Standards Requirements assigned.
