About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director, Jail/Community-Based Services, the Community Operations Supervisor (COS) provides guidance and supervision to the team of Transition Coordinators based on “best practices.” The Community Operations Supervisor helps to ensure the implementation of quality services to clients, the accurate collection and assessment of data and submission of quality reports, and provides administrative support for the unit.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED/HSE required, some degree of higher education preferred;
  • At least three years of prior experience in a management/supervisory position preferred;
  • Experience working in correctional setting and reentry preferred;
  • Experience in providing services to individuals involved in the criminal justice system;
  • Good computer skills, including the ability to write reports and enter data into a database;
  • Strong counseling and facilitation skills;
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills;
  • Strong written, verbal and public speaking skills;
  • A commitment to working with a diverse group of individuals involved with the criminal justice system;
  • Ability to maintain composure and patience in challenging circumstances;
  • Excellent team player;
  • Flexibility to meet program needs, such as moving between centers throughout the day;

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish verbal and written skills a plus;
  • Relevant personal experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support, training, supervision and programmatic guidance to the staff, while ensuring the delivery of quality services to clients;
  • Assist the Director with program operations in the jail and in the community, including discharge planning, transportation, housing, care management, employment, education, behavioral health, and other wraparound services;
  • Provide clinical oversight to support the program and staff and to address clinical concerns and crises;
  • Utilize clinical skills to educate staff on best practices including de-escalation of programmatic issues;
  • Support with administrative tasks such as approving timesheets, creating calendars, organizing schedules, and preparing performance evaluations;
  • Work with the Director on the collection, assessment, and accounting of data and reports related to the achievement of program outcomes;
  • Act as a liaison between DOC and Fortune, and other agencies in the Criminal Justice Reentry Network (CJRN);
  • Provide support and supervision to the staff to ensure successful achievement of all jail and community-based outcomes, including those related to: discharge preparation, skill-building activities, and community stabilization;
  • Provide crisis management as needed;
  • Help coordinate staff activities, meetings and trainings;
  • Assist with coverage whenever Director is out of the office;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
