About The Position

The Operational Strategy team works across the enterprise to establish investment and partnership strategies to meet customer demand, improve company performance, and introduce new technologies into the shipyard. In this position, you will lead operational strategy development across multiple investment and improvement categories to increase shipbuilding throughput, analyze constraints and opportunities, identify solutions, both internal and through partnerships, and lead stakeholders to execute the strategy. You will have the responsibility of manageing a high-functioning team of Strategy Leads and Operations Analysts to execute the Operational Strategy Mission, which includes: Leading cross-functional teams to develop investment strategies across operations, supply chain, workforce, and infrastructure Conducting diagnostic analyses to identify constraints and opportunities Identifying and implementing new technologies and processes to streamline operations Managing execution of inititatives by partnering with stakeholders across the company Leading internal teams and coordinating closely with initiative owners to develop and execute value creation plans, roadmaps and business cases Preparing strategy documents for senior internal and external stakeholders The position will involve regular interface with senior leaders and all functional areas of the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design
  • Master's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience
  • PhD and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • US Citizenship Required for this Position: Yes

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in defense, shipbuilding, operations, manufacturing, and/or supply chain
  • Prior experience in management consulting or internal consulting
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance
  • Strong analytical ability
