About The Position

About the Team: The Development Fleet Operations team is responsible for the safe testing and operation of the newest technologies. As an Operations Specialist you will contribute to the daily driving and testing of autonomous trucks, own the safety of the operation, and provide feedback on system performance and behaviors while hauling commercial freight. This position is located in New Stanton, PA and will require travel outside of the Pittsburgh Area.

Requirements

  • Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Airbrake Endorsement required
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience with Class A driving
  • Must be able to work overnight or regional routes as assigned and have availability for multi-week assignments
  • Must be willing to utilize the sleeper cab for overnight rest periods
  • Must have a safe and clean driving record, free from: Major traffic violations or preventable accidents
  • Any history of DUI/DWI, reckless driving, or leaving the scene of an accident
  • License suspension or revocation
  • Disqualifying offenses under 49 CFR 391.15
  • Must be able to successfully complete practical road test
  • Must have a current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate
  • Must consent to Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review and background check
  • Ability to pass all DOT & Stack AV required testing, including:
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Ongoing random and post-accident testing
  • Annual review of driving record and medical certification
  • Sleep apnea screening within 30 days of hire, and ongoing in conjunction with the Medical Examination Certificate renewal
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (written and oral) in native-level English.
  • Thorough understanding and application of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA regulations with a functional understanding of commercial vehicle equipment and inspection including Electronic Logging Devices (ELD).
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use a smartphone/tablet.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate autonomous trucks on the public roads to support development testing and commercial pilot operations.
  • Haul commercial freight between customer locations and/or meet points.
  • Provide feedback on system performance to advance self-driving technology.
  • Utilize internal tools on a smartphone/tablet to track work assigned and completed.
  • Uphold industry-leading safety standards, remaining compliant with internal benchmarks.
  • Remain alert and attentive while operating during extended stretches of autonomy.
