The Institutional Life (IL) Department provides advanced life insurance solutions, including Bank-Owned Life Insurance (BOLI), Corporate-Owned Life Insurance (COLI), and Corporate Sponsored Plans, designed to support highly compensated executives and professionals. Role Overview: The Operations Specialist supports the Institutional Life Business Services Team by managing correspondence, payment processing, and workflow operations for both financial and non-financial insurance transactions. This role ensures timely and accurate handling of service requests while contributing to process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce manual work. The Operations Specialist works closely with the Case Management and Business Operations teams to uphold New York Life’s commitment to exceptional service and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in operations, financial services, or insurance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while being an effective team collaborator.
  • Skilled at multitasking and managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Driven to learn, improve, and contribute to business modernization efforts.
  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years equivalent related experience preferred.
  • Must obtain FINRA Series 6 license within 12 months of hire.
  • Must complete LOMA Courses 1 & 2 within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Process and route incoming and outgoing correspondence through automated workflow systems.
  • Manage daily mail processing, scanning, and indexing for the Case Management team.
  • Facilitate electronic and hard copy mailing and distribution of policy confirmations, statements, and client correspondence.
  • Coordinate production and delivery of policyowner bills and account statements.
  • Process address, owner, beneficiary and other non-financial changes for clients.
  • Handle inbound and outbound wire transfers, monitoring and reporting transactions accurately.
  • Assist with disbursements related to BOLI, COLI, and retail insurance transactions.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to automate workflows and enhance efficiency.
