About The Position

NOTE: This job notification is to establish a standing list for future vacancies. Provides administrative/logistical support to ensure efficient and effective protective force (PF) operations and personnel have all available assigned equipment. This includes, but is not limited to weapons issue (heavy weapons, bolt guns, specialty armaments), ammunition and other sensitive equipment accountability, overtime management, ensuring accuracy and completeness of PF records and documents and other assigned tasks as directed by PF supervision. Schedules PF personnel including post assignments and overtime to ensure staffing meets Department of Energy requirements. Assists shift lieutenant in arranging shift-specific training needs. Provides accountability for weapons, ammunition and other sensitive equipment. Issues and receives weapons, ammunition and other sensitive equipment in compliance with established procedures. Maintains inventory of matrix cards, radios, ammunition and weapons. Maintains complete, accurate records and documents in highly sensitive environment. Posts or enters inventories, incident reports, summary and personal data, timekeeping, and reviews. Makes sure blanks are filled in and proper codes used. Notifies lieutenants of discrepancies. Completes personnel and vehicle accident reports. May complete data downloads from barcode readers and vehicle counters for reports provided to PPD Management as directed. Coordinates repair and servicing of equipment and PF vehicles. Plans for repair or replacement of sensitive equipment, including notifying maintenance of required service/maintenance needs. Handles weapons (heavy weapons, bolt guns) and equipment for issue and turn-in. Serves as Arms Room Attendant during equipment and weapons issue or turn-in to ensure equipment/weapons are issued in accordance with established procedures. Assists PF supervision in coordinating emergency response. Operates and monitors telephone and radio communication equipment. Updates information status boards/smart boards in support of emergency operations. Performs duties as a “controller” during security exercises. Must perform all responsibilities for environment, safety and health as defined in Procedure 1-3100 and adhere to the principles and functions of Integrated Safety Management.

Requirements

  • Reading, writing, and basic math skills.
  • Two years of experience performing any combination of the following: staff scheduling; protective force, military, or law enforcement; property management; or other directly related experience.
  • Current valid state driver’s license is required.
  • Must attend and successfully complete specialized training for all tasks that require the handling of weapons.
  • Must be able to safely lift and handle weapons, ammunition, bottled water and other PF equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to safely manipulate weapons slides/bolts for issuance of weapons.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts (12-14 hours) that include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, as needed.
  • Must have and/or be able to obtain/maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance and Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification.
