Position Summary: The City of Lone Tree seeks a proactive and experienced Public Works Operations Project Supervisor to oversee and manage the day-to-day field operations of public infrastructure maintenance and improvement projects. This position reports directly to the Public Works Operations Manager and plays a key leadership role in ensuring the city’s streets and stormwater systems are maintained to high standards of safety, efficiency, and aesthetics. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in municipal operations, project oversight, and contractor management, along with a commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement. This role is vital in ensuring that the City of Lone Tree continues to deliver high-quality, reliable, and responsive public services. The Public Works Operations Project Supervisor will serve as a bridge between strategic policy goals and their real-world implementation—enhancing infrastructure resilience, public safety, and community satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public works, construction, or municipal field operations, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of best practices in road maintenance, drainage systems, construction project management, and snow operations.
  • Proficient in using project management software, GIS, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, public administration, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate field activities and maintenance operations including street repair, snow removal, stormwater infrastructure, signage, right-of-way upkeep, and emergency response.
  • Work directly with the Operations Manager to develop, bid, and manage the city’s annual capital maintenance program (Roto-Mill and Overlay, Concrete Repair, Concrete Panels, Striping).
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor the work of in-house crews and contracted service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.
  • Implement and oversee a work order program to track operations and maintenance contracted services in a more efficient manner.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for operation-related service requests and complaints; ensure proper resolution and follow-up.
  • Inspect public infrastructure assets regularly; document conditions and recommend corrective measures or enhancements.
  • Collaborating with the Public Works Operations Manager on budgeting, capital improvement planning, and operational strategy development.
  • Assist in the procurement of equipment, materials, and contractor services; ensure compliance with City policies and state regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards and promote a safe working environment for all staff and contractors.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, project progress, equipment usage, and expenditures.
  • Utilize asset management and work order systems to track operational data and optimize performance.
  • Provide support and guidance to City inspection team as needed.
