About The Position

The Operations Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the company’s operational planning processes, including purchasing, cost estimating, and production scheduling. This role leads a team of buyers, estimators, and schedulers to ensure efficient procurement, accurate cost projections, and optimized scheduling of resources and projects. The Operations Planning Manager works cross-functionally with operations, project management, finance, and leadership to ensure projects and production activities are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with company goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in operations planning, procurement, estimating, scheduling, or related roles.
  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience overseeing teams.
  • Strong understanding of procurement, cost estimation, and operational scheduling processes.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, project management tools, and scheduling software preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, orgganizational, and problem-solving skiils.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

  • Experience managing cross-functional operational teams.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and drive process inmprovements
  • Experience in manufacturing or project-based industries is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operation Planning & Coordination Develop and manage operational planning strategies that align purchasing, estimating, and scheduling activities.
  • Coordinate planning activities between operations, project managers, and leadership teams.
  • Monitor workload forecasts and adjust planning to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Procurement & Purchasing Oversight Manage and support buyers in sourcing materials, equipment, and services.
  • Ensure cost-effective purchasing strategies and supplier negotiations Maintain vendor relationships and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Ensure procurement aligns with project timelines and operational needs Estimating Management Oversee the preparation of cost estimates, bids, and proposals.
  • Review estimates for accuracy, competitiveness, and profitability.
  • Support project teams with cost analysis and budget planning.
  • Work with estimators to improve cost forecasting and estimating processes.
  • Scheduling & Resource Planning Supervise the develoopment and maintenance of project or production schedules.
  • Ensure scheduling aligns with available labor, materials, and operational capacity.
  • Identify scheduling conflicts or risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Track project limelines and adjust schedules as needed.
  • Team Leadership & Development Lead, mentor, and develop a team of buyers, estimators, and schedulers.
  • Establish performance goals and ensure accountability accross planning functions.
  • Promote collaboration between departments and operational teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement in planning processes and systems.
  • Reporting & Performance Monitoring Track key performance indicators related to purchasing, cost estimating, and scheduling.
  • Provide operational planning reports to leadership.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve operational efficiency and cost control.
