About The Position

The Operations Manager will support Converting and Extrusion Production teams, assisting with planning, directing and coordinating production activities. This position is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation, leadership and management of the manufacturing plant. This position reports to the Plant Manager and regularly reports on plant performance. Direct reports to this position include salaried staff including but not limited to Scheduling Manager, Extrusion Manager, and Shift Supervisors. Indirect reports include all hourly employees at the plant. The Operations Manager is accountable for inspiring and executing strategies which achieve optimum safety, quality, service, productivity, and profitability.

Requirements

  • High school degree required, secondary education and/or leadership training preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the willingness and ability to learn new systems.
  • A minimum of 5 years of production/operations management experience in manufacturing and operations.
  • Well-rounded operations management experience includes a deep understanding and experience with operations tactics, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement, strategies and best practices and process discipline.
  • Knowledge of production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Track record of excellent judgment and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to successfully work to reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Ability to effectively set and communicate expectations & directives to manufacturing staff.
  • Results driven, analytical, self-motivated and detail oriented with the ability to logically identify alternative solutions or approaches to complex problems.
  • Must have demonstrated accountability at the plant management level and have a strong track record of successful execution.
  • Demonstrated success as an innovative manufacturing leader.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively manage operations with excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule as needed for 24/7, 365 Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Advance initiatives that promote and sustain the safety, health, security, and welfare of all employees.
  • Maintain safe, clean, orderly and environmentally compliant production operations.
  • Inclusive oversight of all production and production support activities of the facility ensuring all are conducted in accordance with Company policies, principles, procedures, values, and standards.
  • Perpetually assess current strategies, systems, procedures, performance, capabilities, equipment, facilities, and employees for opportunities to optimize safety, flow, service, quality, and profitability.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols.
  • Ensure that production activities remain on time and within budget.
  • Track staffing needs and partnering with HR when hiring new hires as needed.
  • Ensure product quality and customer satisfaction with order fulfillment
  • Monitor and maintain KPI’s on productivity, budget management/cost management.
  • Implement continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and management methods to generate improved plant performance and workflow optimization and efficiencies
  • Assesses and manages the salaried staff and hourly employees within the plant
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.
  • Leads Daily GEMBA Walks
  • 24/7 Operation, requires flexible hours
  • Standard Work days: Monday through Friday
  • Perform daily audits for Standard Work, Housekeeping and Inventory Management
  • Assists with attendance and performance write ups
  • Assist with Monthly completion of safety trainings
  • Oversees Overtime Management process
  • Offers support to shift supervisor on the floor daily.
  • Lead, motivate, and support production team, including career development, problem resolution, and succession planning.
  • Manage data collection for the updating of metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce costs per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Oversees materials and inventory counts.
  • Conduct budget reviews and report cost plans to corporate leadership team.
