About The Position

Operations Manager – Head Start Program (Selma-based, Full-Time) Join an organization making a difference in Alabama's Black Belt communities. Location: Choctaw, Dallas, Marengo, and Wilcox counties of Alabama Job Summary: A Head Start program in Alabama is hiring a hands-on Operations Manager to oversee building operations and transportation services across multiple early childhood education centers. This role ensures that all facilities and fleet operations meet safety, licensing, and compliance standards. The position supervises a team of drivers, custodians, and maintenance technicians, and plays a key role in maintaining a safe, efficient environment for staff and children.

Requirements

  • Degree in a related field preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in operations, facilities, or fleet management
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • CDL with "S" and "P" endorsement, or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to travel between sites as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of compliance standards in education or childcare settings a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage the cleanliness, maintenance, and security of multiple buildings
  • Supervise transportation operations, including vehicle maintenance and route planning
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal health, safety, and transportation regulations
  • Conduct regular audits of equipment and supplies
  • Supervise 7 bus drivers/custodians and 2 maintenance staff
  • Maintain vendor relationships and manage purchasing of supplies
  • Ensure all inspections, licenses, and permits are current
