About The Position

Federal Signal is searching for an Operations Manager responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies to meet internal and external customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, operations management, or related technical field required. In lieu of degree, a minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in PCB assembly, SMT operations, or electronics manufacturing leadership is required
  • 7+ years of Manufacturing experience required.
  • Must be a good communicator, work well with people, and be able to work in a fast paced, continually changing environment.
  • Must have critical thinking and problem-solving skills, be able to plan and organize, and make sound decisions quickly

Nice To Haves

  • IPC or Lean Six Sigma certifications strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end PCB manufacturing processes, including SMT, solder, reflow, AOI, coating and final assembly
  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering on PCB design for manufacturability improvements.
  • Partner with engineering to validate new PCB designs and ensure smooth New Product Introduction transitions.
  • Ensure proper setup, calibration, and preventive maintenance of SMT equipment, pick-and -place machines, reflow ovens and inspection systems.
  • Streamline SMT line changeovers, rework processes and inspection workflows
  • Drive waste reduction initiatives specific to PCB assembly, such as changeover optimization, defect reduction, and IPC-driven best practices.
  • Work with Quality engineering to manage PCB manufacturing, ensuring RoHS compliance , addressing non-conformances, corrective actions, and process audits.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain to mitigate risks related to component shortages, long lead times, or obsolescence.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, and training employees and providing personal growth opportunities.
  • Develop goals for team members to align with organizational goals.
  • Conduct risk assessments on new processes, machines, or materials used in PCB manufacturing.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support for PCB defects, solder joint issues, component placement challenges and thermal profile deviations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines related to soldering operations, chemical handling and equipment operation.
