About The Position

The Operations Integration Lead exists to strengthen how Schupan Materials Trading (SMT) Operations functions as a system. The role focuses on simplifying how work flows across logistics, contracts, compliance, systems, and data so execution remains consistent without relying on constant escalation or individual intervention. By improving how the system works day to day, the role helps operations support commercial activity across changing volumes and product mixes while maintaining discipline, compliance, accuracy, and reliability. This position is focused on execution, coordination, and continuous operational improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s level degree required in operations, supply chain, business/administration, finance, or similar field (master’s level degree preferred)
  • 8–12 years of experience in operations, logistics, commodities, or transaction-heavy environments
  • Demonstrated experience executing operational processes in regulated or compliance-driven settings; familiarity with trade documentation, customs processes, and operational controls
  • Experience in scrap metal, commodities trading, or industrial materials sectors
  • Experience supporting domestic and international logistics operations
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and systems skills
  • Advanced Excel and operational reporting capability
  • Ability to work with ERP, CRM, or logistics systems
  • Ability to operate independently in deadline-driven environments
  • Ability to safely perform site visits and travel as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Integration and system design Identify where work breaks down across functions and redesign how it flows to reduce handoffs, rework, and escalation
  • Ensure new processes, system changes, and operating decisions translate into clear, repeatable execution; support onboarding of new processes, vendors, and trade lanes.
  • Determine shipment milestones and resolve execution issues related to timing, cost, or documentation
  • Identify operational risks and implement controls in partnership with Operations leadership, using systems and standardized work processes
  • Support automation and efficiency initiatives to reduce manual effort and error rates
  • Project management and center-of-excellence Own how projects and changes are integrated into Operations, not day-to-day project delivery
  • Design and standardize implementation patterns so improvements land cleanly and scale consistently
  • Define which types of initiatives require Operations integration support and which do not
  • Operational stability and resilience Support operational setup and administration of contracts, customers, suppliers, and vendors
  • Reduce reliance on informal coordination by embedding clarity and ownership into workflows
  • Build compliance controls into daily operations so they scale with volume and complexity, in consultation with the Trade Compliance Lead
  • Partner with IT and Operations to ensure systems absorb work that would otherwise remain manual
  • Improve data visibility so issues surface early and are resolved consistently
  • Resilient leadership coverage Develop working knowledge across each Operations leadership area (contracts, logistics, international operations, compliance)
  • Provide continuity and informed coverage when leaders are stretched, unavailable, or navigating change
  • Reduce single-point-of-failure risk by ensuring system knowledge and execution patterns are not limited to one person
  • Serve as a central operational point of coordination across trading, logistics, accounting, and compliance
  • Travel up to 20% of the time; must be able to travel by air, rail, or car based on most efficient and effective mode of travel to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Must be able to handle high stress situations.
