About The Position

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Operations Engineering Intern to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Team in Mascoutah, IL. The Operations Engineering Intern will develop, implement, maintain, and improve manufacturing/ Logistics processes required to meet the needs of the operation for both existing and new processes. Assure processes support organizational goals for safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Manufacturing, Industrial or equivalent)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and distribution processes.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Project management skills and Problem-solving ability
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing tools and concepts
  • Teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop new, or improve existing, standard work for Production and Logistics operations.
  • Under supervision, utilize Lean manufacturing tools, such as Single-Piece Flow, 5-S, Visual Management Systems and Set Up Reductions.
  • Analyze production and logistics processes, and work with the management team to improve and standardize those processes.
  • Update existing standardize work to match latest changes.
  • Support plant safety culture with continuous improvement activities that will result in reduction of potential injuries.
  • Develop and implement appropriate metrics to measure and monitor plant's continuous improvement efforts.
  • Performs technical assignments of simple to moderate complexity under supervision.
  • Working independently or in a group setting as needed based on the assigned project.
