About The Position

This Internship will be responsible for leading various projects including yield testing, building cost-to-produce, carcass chill studies as well as learning all aspects of harvest and production lines. Additional responsibilities would include supporting technical components of beef carcass merchandising and meat engineering relative to the carcass composition yield enhancement and gross margin improvement. This position will work under an experienced supervisor to gain the necessary training to lead teams of people to produce a high quality, safe product that meets customer specifications. This position will work cross functionally with operation support departments such as Human Resources, Accounting, Maintenance, FSQA, Sales, and may to work various shifts in order to learn additional facets of the operations and maintenance. Other duties include ensuring that all product quality and safety processes are being followed promoting a safe work environment and performing other responsibilities as assigned. These positions will be assigned to various Beef plant locations. This position is slated for candidates who are currently local to one of Tyson Foods Beef Plants. Priority consideration will be provided to these applicants first. If local candidates are not selected, candidates from other areas will then be reviewed for consideration. Housing will be provided for any chosen candidate that is located outside of a 50-mile radius. This is a summer internship and will require approximately 40 working hours per week in-person at the Beef Plant that you are assigned to. Requirements

  • Education: Actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university with at least one semester of school remaining following internship. Animal Science, Agriculture, Meat Science, or other related majors preferred.
  • Experience: Management, group project and/or leadership experience preferred. Agriculture experience a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Excel familiarity with Access, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Availability: Must be willing to work multiple shifts
  • Special Skills: Motivated, self-starter who has the desire to learn from others.
  • Leadership, team player, problem solver, multi-tasking, and leading by example.
