About The Position

At Glyphic Biotechnologies, we plan to create the protein revolution for which scientists and researchers have been waiting. We are developing a massively parallel, single-molecule proteome sequencing platform that will transform life science discovery and usher in a new era of insights into human biology and disease. To date, we have raised >$80M from venture partners and non-dilutive grant funding to achieve our vision of next generation proteome sequencing. We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Operations Associate or Operations Manager to support Glyphic’s operational infrastructure. This hands-on role is critical to ensuring our laboratory environment, IT systems, and corporate administrative functions are maintained in service of our scientific teams and their success. The ideal candidate is a highly competent executor, able to seek and understand context and priorities, remain composed and effective under pressure, and enthusiastically take on ownership and responsibility. In this role, you will support a variety of tasks across procurement, lab operations, information technology, and corporate administration and have access to mentorship opportunities across numerous areas of the business. This role is perfect for a self-starter who wants to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time, exempt, in-person role based at our Berkeley, CA facility.

Requirements

  • Articulable experience relevant to the role and a degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related field, including:
  • 0+ years of relevant experience (for Operations Associate I)
  • 2+ years (for Operations Associate II)
  • 4+ years (for Senior Operations Associate)
  • 6+ years (for Operations Manager)
  • Practical knowledge of chemical safety and lab hazards
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to make progress when information is limited or imperfect
  • Strong computer competence

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to use common automation platforms (Atlassian, Zapier, n8n, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with EHS programs, safety training and inspections
  • Experience managing scientific equipment lifecycle including service, calibration, and vendor coordination
  • Familiarity with inventory management and procurement systems (Prendio, Quartzy, etc)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with lab and facilities operations, including lab upkeep, space planning, and coordinating equipment installation/management (repairs, calibrations).
  • Execute regular purchasing and inventory tasks, such as managing stockroom, processing orders (BOM and ad hoc), and handling shipping/receiving.
  • Support all aspects of the company safety program, including SDS management, waste management, compliance documentation (CERS, calEPA), and internal/external inspections.
  • Handle general administrative operations support, including access control, software management, and facilities inspections/modifications.
  • Provide support for digital operations, including software provisioning, organizing and maintaining documentation, and contributing to process improvements and simple system automation.
