About The Position

The future of sustainability depends on smarter, faster, and more accessible public transit, and we’re looking for someone ready to help make that a reality. As an Operations Analyst in the Climate Corps Fellowship program, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to impactful, sustainable transportation initiatives with Capitol Corridor. This is a hybrid position with the expectation of onsite work 4 days per week. There are occasional station audits, train tours, and local meetings, some of which may fall outside standard business hours. In this role, you’ll serve as a critical support function for the day-to-day operations and delivery of CCJPA train service, directly impacting ridership growth and service improvements. You work with the Operations team to help drive the Tap2Ride program, an initiative expanding train access via contactless payment, while engaging with all facets of a small public transportation group, including operations, planning, finance, and marketing. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop your professional skills, grow your network, contribute to Capitol Corridor's sustainability goals, and the chance to help lead the charge on next-generation transit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, related fields preferred (transportation, data analytics, hospitality, etc).
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, data processing, and analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Motivated, self-starter, independent, analytical.
  • The ability to work onsite on a hybrid basis [4 days per week in-office]. This position requires the employee to be physically located within commuting distance of the site location at the time of hire. Only candidates currently residing within commuting distance of the site address will be considered.

  • May require occasional moving about to accomplish tasks, moving from one worksite to another, or adjusting or moving objects under 25-50 pounds in all directions.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor ridership and other metrics, analyze data, prepare statistical reports, and monitor and adjust individual train travel fares.
  • Develop new metrics and analysis methods, make policy recommendations, and explore ways to grow ridership and revenue.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to implement or change procedures.
  • Lead and participate in meetings, conduct field audits at stations and on trains, and interact with the public.
  • Communicate directly with customers in a customer service capacity as needed.
