About The Position

This Project Manager serves as a senior execution-focused contributor supporting Army Air and Missile Defense (AMD) simulation, instrumentation, and operational test activities for the Signal and Information Sciences Laboratory (SISL) at Applied Research Laboratories (ARL).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, military leadership, program management, or acquisition management.
  • Ten years of experience configuring, operating, supporting, or training on Army Air and Missile Defense systems.
  • Direct experience with the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) and at least two major Army AMD weapon, sensor, or fire control systems (e.g., Patriot, Sentinel, LTAMDS, IFPC).
  • Demonstrated experience with Army AMD tactics, techniques, and procedures, including coordination with Joint or multiservice organizations.
  • Direct experience supporting or executing Army operational test activities for AMD systems.
  • Proven ability to understand how complex systems are actually used by operators, based on documentation, direct interaction with subject matter experts, and observation of live or simulated system operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, analyze, and correct faulty or unexpected behavior in complex, integrated systems
  • Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized, capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks, be willing to accept and incorporate feedback, and managing their time.
  • This position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving, sound engineering judgment, and excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision, and effectively communicate with all groups of clients.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience serving as an Operational Test Officer or in a comparable role supporting Army or DoD acquisition programs.
  • Experience with Army AMD command-and-control, weapon, and sensor systems beyond those listed in the required qualifications.
  • Experience with Joint or multi-service AMD command-and-control, weapon, or sensor systems.
  • Experience interfacing with Army test agencies or DoD evaluation organizations during the planning or execution of operational tests.
  • Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes and DoD 8570.1M IAT Level I certification.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 with at least a 3.2 in relevant coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior subject matter expertise on Army Air and Missile Defense systems, including operational employment, system interactions, and observed limitations in both test and fielded environments.
  • Serve as an operationally credible representative of the team’s capabilities when interacting with sponsors, test agencies, and user organizations.
  • Translate operational test objectives, system employment concepts, and sponsor needs into requirements for instrumentation, data collection, simulation configuration, and test execution support.
  • Install, configure, operate, and evaluate existing simulation and instrumentation software and supporting systems used in Army AMD test and evaluation activities.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate system-level testing of instrumentation and simulation capabilities in support of Army operational test events.
  • Diagnose, analyze, and document system behavior, deficiencies, and integration issues across complex, interconnected systems.
  • Support government software accreditation, test documentation, and related product documentation activities, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and alignment with operational realities.
  • Provide direct support and training to users of instrumentation and simulation systems, including coordination with operators, testers, and technical staff before, during, and after test events.
  • Support engagement with government sponsors, test agencies, and user organizations by helping articulate the operational relevance, limitations, and value of laboratory-developed capabilities.
  • Provide informed input to demonstrations, briefings, and technical exchanges, ensuring alignment between operational needs and engineering outcomes.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
