About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a Mission Director for the 787 Operations Control Center (OCC) based out of Everett, WA. The successful applicant will be an integral part of the Operations Center, overseeing daily activities and strategizing Boeing's support in response to technical issues experienced by customers. This role focuses on day-to-day missions, identifying escalation requirements, and communicating with executive leadership. The Mission Director is expected to think creatively for solutions, build positive working relationships, and possess a combination of technical expertise, project management, and leadership skills. Effective communication with team members, internal and external customers, and senior management is crucial. Key responsibilities include managing Aircraft On Ground (AOG) situations, providing technical issue resolution for Boeing aircraft, and contributing to improved dispatch reliability.

Requirements

  • 14+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Willing to work variable shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • 5+ years of experience working within a fast-paced team environment which required strong communication skills to frequently interact with program leadership, internal and external customer representatives, and development teams
  • 5+ years of experience in Service Engineering, Field Service, Maintenance Engineering, or Customer/Logistics Support
  • 5+ years of experience in the following: aircraft production, ground operations and/or flight-line operations

Nice To Haves

  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license or an engineering degree
  • Experience with 787 systems to include diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving technical or operational problems/procedures
  • Airline/aircraft maintenance operations experience
  • Experience with commercial airplane products and services
  • Experience with reading and interpreting technical documents and/or drawings
  • 5+ years of experience or education directly related to airline operations (i.e., Maintenance Control Center, Flight Operations, Line Maintenance, Engineering, Planning, Parts, and Quality Assurance, MRO operations, etc.)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

Responsibilities

  • Oversees day to day activities in the Operations Center
  • Strategizes Boeing support in response to technical issues experienced by our customers
  • Focuses on the day to day missions
  • Identifies escalation requirements
  • Communicates with executive leadership
  • Manages AOGs and provides technical issue resolution for Boeing aircraft
  • Helps improve dispatch reliability
  • Leads team to develop and execute these strategies on a daily basis
  • Provides daily communication documentation and issue communication processes in local work instructions to ensure communication consistency
  • Monitors fleet status and operation issues
  • Anticipates opportunities to leverage company products and services
  • Develops and reviews action plan, coordinates resources and work flow to provide solutions for and oversee the resolution of AOG situations
  • Communicates effectively to all stakeholders including customers and executive level leadership
  • Escalates issues where needed
  • Leverages enterprise wide solutions to provide timely and accurate response to customer inquiries
